The Cambridge Police Department is investigating the armed robbery of a downtown bank Monday morning. It happened around 10 am at the People’s Bank on Wheeling Avenue. Cambridge Police Captain Randy LePage says the suspect produced a knife and made a demand for money. He then fled the bank traveling north on 6th Street to a waiting vehicle parked in the 500 block of Brown Avenue. It was last seen traveling north in the alley adjacent to the east side of Jamboree Foods. The get-a-way vehicle was driven by an older, heavy-set white male who had some facial hair or beard. LePage says the bank robbery suspect is described as a black male, in his 30’s or 40’s wearing a dark hat, glasses and a denim jacket. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Cambridge Police Department.
