Former Zanesville Doctor Dies

A former Zanesville Orthopedic Surgeon has died.  Dr Joe Porter died Sunday morning in Ft. Myers, Florida.  Dr. Porter attended Hopewell High School, Muskingum College and the Ohio State University College of Medicine.  He practiced in Zanesville as an Orthopedic Surgeon and hand specialist.  Porter was also a novelist, playwright, actor, director, college professor and trumpet musician. He also was a member of the Elks Club, The Masonic Lodge and the Zanesville Rotary Club.  Porter also loved to play golf.  A memorial service is today (Wednesday) at Cypress Lake Methodist Church in Ft, Myers.  Dr. Porter was 74-year-old.
