The owners of Hillis Funeral Home, located on Forest Ave. in Zanesville, have retired and sold the company. Business partners and new owners of the funeral home, Tim Combs and Paul Nestor have petitioned The State Board of The Ohio Funeral Directors and Embalmers to change the name of the funeral home to Hillis,Combs and Nestor.

"We definitely want to keep the Hillis name, that’s been a very important tradition here in Zanesville and Muskingum County since 1946 so we definitely want to continue the traditions that Jim and Dave, and their father, Doc Hillis started so many years ago," said Tim Combs, part owner of Hillis, Combs and Nestor Funeral Home.

The new owners say they will honor all of the pre-needs and contracts that have been set up and established prior to the purchase of the funeral home. As partners, Combs and Nestor have twenty years in the funeral industry and look forward to carrying on the Hillis legacy of individually serving the residents of Zanesville.

"We are planning in late spring to have an open house to allow the public to come and meet us if we haven’t had the opportunity to do so, show them our beautiful funeral home and just tell them about us."

If anyone has any questions during the funeral home’s transition period, the owners say they will be happy to answer any questions that residents might have. You can call them at 740-452-5494
