The Zanesville-Muskingum County Heath Department held it’s annual District Advisory Council Meeting tonight. The health department is required to meet with their advisory council every march. The council is made up of township trustees, county commissioners and mayor’s of every city and town in Muskingum County.
"We released to them our annual report for 2012. We provide them with quarterly updates as well. The updates give them good information with what the health department is doing with our time and our resources over the course of the year," said Health Commissioner, Corey Hamilton.
The health department went over some of their plans for 2013 which include working on becoming an accredited public health department, improving on quality improvement processes, strategic planning and say they have a number of environmental projects in the works.
"One of the things that we are very proud of is we had a really great financial year. With business picking back up, some of our revenues were higher than anticipated and we stuck very close within our budget so we were able to save a little bit of funding and put in our rainy day fund. "
