Keep Easter Baskets Away From Pets

With Easter coming up there’s lots of candy for your pets to get into and eat so the Animal Shelter in Muskingum County is giving residents tips on what to do if your pet gets into your Easter basket.

"And the most important thing is, if you have pets that can have access to that, is to be careful to keep them out of their ability to get to them because they’re going to be curious and we want to make sure they don’t get a lot of chocolate, or any foreign bodies, things like that," said Animal Shelter of Muskingum County Executive Director, Jody Murray.

Murray advices people to take their pets to an animal clinic that is open 24 hours if they ingest a high amount of chocolate or candy. He says it’s something that can progress rapidly, so take them as soon as possible. The Animal Shelter of Muskingum County is also having an adoption event tomorrow morning at We Lov Pets on Maple Avenue.

"The shelter has an adoption event coming up this Saturday, it’s going to be at We Lov Pets. We’re going to have cats and dogs both there. It’ starts at 11 o’clock so we want to encourage people to come out . It’s a good place to go if you end up adopting a cat or dog, you’re right there where you can get all the supplies and things that you need."
