Operation Feed Campaign Kicks Off

Last year the Operation Feed Campaign provided more than one million meals to Muskingum County residents.

Thursday, the campaign kicked off another year of fundraising for the 15 food pantries, 2 special need pantries and 4 hot meal programs in our area. This year’s campaign chair said that the need in our area is great.

"We’re at the point where that’s not going to be reduced," said Chairperson Sheriff Matt Lutz. "We’re going to have more needs, so it’s very important for everybody to get involved and try to help out such a worth while cause."

Over the next few months the campaign will hold fundraisers such as a cupcake war, pies in the face and a sub sale. They also challenge schools, businesses and residents to donate canned goods or money. A little can go a long way.

"The interesting thing that I learned last year is if you and I go into a store and spend five dollars at that store," said Sheriff Lutz. "We get just a little bit of product, but if you give five dollars to our campaign we can do so much more with that by being able to buy more things."
