The Muskingum Valley Red Cross hopes to be in their new home by September.
The organization is kicking off their capital campaign to raise the last funds renovate and move to their new chapter house in Norwich. The need for a building became great after the addition of Guernsey and Noble counties to their coverage area.
"I really felt that the building was laid in our hands and said take it and grow because it was like all the pieces fell into place with Guernsey and Noble coming in because that building is so strategically located between our five counties," said Executive Director Marlene Henderson.
The building is 4,300 square feet and is a single story that will meet handicap regulations. Henderson said she knew the new facility was important after storms in June packed supplies and volunteers into their smaller location on 7th Street in Zanesville.
"We were literally stacked on top of each other in here for 10 days," said Henderson. "We knew then that we couldn’t wait to get to our new building."
As part of the fundraising the Red Cross is selling white and red engraved tiles that will make the Red Cross logo on the entrance of the new facility. To find out more about donating contact the Muskingum Valley Red Cross at (740) 452-2731.
