A tragic story from the city of Warren, about 60 miles east of Cleveland, where six teenagers were killed by a one-vehicle crash Sunday morning. One teen was ejected and found beneath the vehicle and five others were found dead inside while two people managed to crawl out and called 9-1-1.
Those killed were 19-year-old Alexis Cayson; 14-year-old Andrique Bennett; 17-year-old Brandon Murray; Kirkland Behner, Daylan Ray and Ramone White, all 15. All six were from Warren, in northeast Ohio. Two other teens, eighteen-year-old Brian Henry and 15-year-old Asher Lewis, both of Warren, were treated and released from the hospital.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a Honda Passport SUV carrying eight people veered off the left side of a road, crashed into a guardrail and landed in a pond.
Warren Fire Department Captain Bill Monrean said the rescue team pulled five teens out of the vehicle and took them to area hospitals. Cold water can extend life and rescue teams felt the teens had a chance, even if they had been in the vehicle for a period of time. Two of the teens that were declared dead at the hospital, were treated for "hypothermic drowning trauma." The two who survived were treated for bruising and other injuries
