Zanesville Police nab their suspect in a string of robberies.

Captain Tony Coury said following Wednesday’s robbery of Shrivers Pharmacy on Brighton Boulevard, they were able to locate their suspect at 1226 1/2 Ridge Avenue.

The man is also suspected of six other robberies that took place within the last 14 days.

"In the past few months the robberies we have had have been individuals that have escalated fairly quickly," explained Captain Coury. "They’ve went from one, two or three robberies in a short period of time. These guys apparently are desperate and anytime there’s robberies and thefts it usually stems around drug use and that’s what is suspected here."

Captain Coury said he’s unsure of the exact charges against their suspect, who’s not being named at this time. He said the man used a knife in some of the incidents.

"He did not confess right away," said Coury. "The detective bureau continued their investigation throughout the afternoon and then early evening Detective Madden sat down with him and explained what evidence we had against him and at that time he confessed."

Captain Coury credits tips from residents that helped them to solve this case.
