The Dresden Fire Department responded to a call from a neighbor around 4:30 p.m. Friday evening about a fire on 2nd Avenue in Trinway. When crews arrived, smoke was coming from the home. Fire crews had the blaze under control around 5:30 p.m. There were no injuries and no one was at home when the fire started.
"We got dispatched for a possible structure fire. In route up here we could see the smoke, and when we pulled on scene we had a working structure fire," said Cpt. Terry Lowrey of the Dresden Fire Department.
The fire destroyed the front portion of the house and also caused visible damage to at least one home near the fire. When the fire department pulled up to the scene, bystanders informed them that no one was inside the home. The Muskingum Valley Red Cross has been notified to assist the family.
"We got here and started operations and had heavy fire here at the front of the structure. It maybe started at the front of the house here, but that’s about all we know, we haven’t been able to to really get inside and investigate yet."
The Dresden Fire Department is not sure what started the fire.
