The Zanesville Downtown Association is opening up membership to anyone who lives in the Zanesville-Muskingum County area. Memberships start at 30-dollars to 100-dollars. The association has a board that meets quarterly to discuss needed improvements, construction updates and safety issues.
"This year the money is being raised will be divided into two pots. one pot of money will be used for permanent and semi permanent improvements and the other pot will be used for marketing," said Dana Matz, Chamber Membership Services Director.
90-percent of the membership funds will be reinvested into downtown Zanesville, and 10-percent will be used to cover the costs of the membership campaign. The association is hoping to get ideas from the community and for a couple hundred new members. Some of the improvements could include street bike racks, banners, signage and lighting.
"Were going to run the membership drive through June. We’ll see how much money we have and well start taking the proposals on the projects that were considering in downtown, so it will probably be fall before they will see something coming from that."
