The State Highway Patrol responded around 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon to the scene of the three vehicle accident on State Route 146, just past Northpointe Drive causing a huge backup of traffic driving westbound.
"A silver Nissan was rear ended by a silver Ford SUV. After the silver SUV rear ended the first car, that vehicle was in turn rear ended by a maroon Buick.," said Trooper Fowler.
Trooper Fowler says there were two people in the Buick, two people in the Ford and one person in the Nissan. Three people were sent to Genesis Good Samaritan to be treated for minor injuries. The maroon Buick suffered substantial damage to the front end and the Ford SUV and Nissan sustained little damage.
"We actually have two at fault in this crash. The driver of the silver Ford SUV is at fault. It’s an assured clear distance issue, the same applies to the driver of the maroon Buick. It’s also an assured clear distance issue there."
Trooper Fowler says if the third vehicle was traveling at an appropriate distance, they could have avoided the crash.
