The Amber Alert issued on Saturday morning has been canceled and it appears the girl made up the story.

Officials say Elizabeth Oakes, 17, "was found safe and the Amber Alert has been canceled."

According to Lt. Chris Phipps, Oakes made up the story because she got into a fight with her mother late last night. Lt. Phipps says that Oakes has been taken to the Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Center and will be charged with falsification, inducing panic and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Zanesville Police Department issued an Amber Alert early Saturday morning stating Oakes ran away in a 1998 gold Chevrolet Malibu. According to police, Oakes called her mother saying she had been assaulted and that she was with the offender. The man who reportedly assaulted the girl then called her mother advising he had assaulted her daughter. Police say the male was heard in the background telling her what to say.
