A Florida man moves to Zanesville to attempt to re-open the movie theater at the Sunrise Center.

George Simmons II wants to renovate the theater with top of the line digital production. He wants it to be a family theater and also a resource for the community. The revenues from the theater would support educational programs in the community.

" If they have an interest in learning about math or science or has a teacher that has extra time or an extra program, they could come to us and get the funding to run it. They could run a summer robotics program or an astronomy program or Maysville High School, they have a business department working with us to organize programs for students to get the experience," President of Anderson-Simmons Group, George Simmons said.

Other businesses in the area believe that the Anderson -Simmons Group’s plan for the theater will benefit the community .

" I think its an awesome program were thrilled that Sunrise Shopping Center is going to be revitalized we’re thrilled to have George as a part of it. We’re hoping he does really well and raise the funds to make it a success. We’re hoping that the shopping center fills in with a a lot of new opportunities for the community" Co-Owner of T3 Cycles Cindy Vellano said.

Simmons plans to raise $50,000 by the end of May . He said he needs the community to be involved to move this project along. If anyone is interested in donating they can go to Century National Bank where the group has an account.
