April’s Artist

The Artist Colony of Zanesville has selected photographer Becky Joseph as it’s Artist of the Month for April.

Joseph grew up around photography, first with her grandfather snapping shots of the family in the fifties. Then her creative flare made her pick up the camera and take it outside, capturing flowers and landscapes

"And so I dabbled in that in the early 80s and didn’t really do anything with that publicly, and just about maybe 8 years ago or so, I got into continuing the photography but doing some digital images and then manipulating them on the computer," said Joseph

Through a class she learned to keep her eye open for things in plain sight and concentrated on how they changed over time.

"So it has kind of been a spiritual thing for me as well, because I just, I feel calm when I am looking through the camera. When I am looking through the camera lens that is all I am thinking about."

Joseph says her recent favorite pieces are photos from an October trip to Paris and Italy. If you would like to see or purchase her artwork, the exhibit is this Friday night at Gallery G in the Masonic Temple Building on 4th street in Zanesville.
