The two-day event which will be broadcasted on AM-1240 radio, takes place at The Colony Square Mall April 25-26. People will be able to bid on about 400 entries ranging from small homemade cakes to large professionally made cakes and all of them come with incentives.
"Some of the incentives might just be as small as a themed coffee themed basket with cups. Some of the larger incentives are sometimes for trips or for larger ticket items. Of course the sky is the limit and we’re only limited by people’s imaginations on that," said Executive Director for The Carr Center, Kim Hosler.
The Carr Center is a non-profit organization serving Muskingum County children and adults with or without disabilities. The Cake Auction is their biggest fundraiser of the year, generating about one third of their operating revenue from the event.
"I think it’s just become part of the community. It’s something that we cherish. It certainly is valuable to us in terms of our operating. But it’s just come kind of an icon in the community I think, and we would love to see it grow bigger every year. "
If you’re interested in baking a cake, the deadline is April 10 to make your commitment. You can call The Carr Center at 740-453-5417 to register.
