Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald stopped by the Muskingum County Democratic Headquarters Saturday afternoon as part of his state-wide campaign talking to Ohioans from every corner of the state.

"It was a hard decision to run state-wide because it’s a big time sacrifice and I have a family and you have to juggle those things like everybody else with their career but I thought it was the right thing to do because I was just in such disagreement with what I’ve seen in the last couple years," said FitzGerald.

FitzGerald says he believes Governor Kasich’s policies have been devastating to Ohio’s economy. Although it’s 18-months before the election, FitzGerald is getting an early start.

"The policies that come out of Columbus affect Zanesville and the whole rest of the state. We’ve been in more than half a dozen locations in the last couple days. We really wanted to have an announcement tour that touched on every single part of the state."

FitzGerald will serve out his term as Cuyahoga County Executive while balancing running for governor.
