Adults and local businesses got together and raced 20 derby cars for the Kiwanis Club of Zanesville’s 2nd Annual Pinewood Derby. The event was held at the Knights of Columbus-Sunrise Center and was sponsored by the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home.

"To sponsor a car it was 250-dollars and what that sponsorship does is, all of those sponsors go to the local Kiwanis Club to support the youth programs that we sponsor throughout the Zanesville Community," said Jeff Wicherham of the Zanesville Kiwanis Club.

The money raised will also go towards the Kiwanis Club’s annual Christmas party and their "Special Riders" partnership with the Carr Center, the Kiwanis Club of Zanesville’s biggest events of the year.

"We’re hoping to raise about six-thousand dollars because of this event. We didn’t want to just go out and ask for money, we wanted to create a fine atmosphere for everybody to come out and have a good time and support the Kiwanis Club."

The Best Race Crew went to Starlight Industries, The People’s Choice Award went to Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, who also were held the honor of having the first place race car. In second place was the Knights of Columbus and in third place Merrill Lynch.
