Could you have the next big idea?
The Muskingum County Business Incubator is holding it’s annual Big Idea Contest. The contest is designed to identify businesses and entrepreneurs who have innovative and unique ideas.
"We really do encourage young people to get involved because they are the technology folks. They know what they want to have and of course there are even companies out there right now in business that may have a better way of doing something that we may be able to help patent products so they can take it into their own resources," said MCBI Executive Director Carol Humphreys.
Past winners include an idea for a heat resistant softball, a portable leg press for those doing rehab in wheelchairs and a bar that protects weight lifters. Humphreys said promoting small business is important.
"We just had an independent study of the economic impact of 2012 alone and it was over $8(m) it really is a big deal," said Humphreys. "Small business is very important that we continue to support and grow them."
Entries for the Big Idea Contest are do May 13. The grand prize winner receive a $1,000 in cash and $700 worth of services. To register stop by the MCBI or visit their website.
