Saturday, April 27, local law enforcement officials and the drug enforcement task force will hold a drug take back day.
Last September Americans turned in 244 tons of prescription drugs at over 5,200 site operated by the DEA and local law enforcement.
Authorities said medicines that sit in home cabinets are susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained by family and friends.
In Muskingum County unwanted medication can be dropped off at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department on 7th Street from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and in Guernsey County the sheriff’s office asks that you bring your medications for disposal to Riesbeck’s Market at 55 South 23rd Street in Cambridge.
The service is free.
