Tami Longaberger, Chief Executive Officer of The Longaberger Company, announced Wednesday that Michael Trempe, 41, a 12-year veteran of the company, has been named Longaberger’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Trempe will report to Ms. Longaberger. He has been at The Longaberger Company since 2001, most recently serving as Vice President for Operations. After joining Longaberger as a business analyst, he rose through several executive positions, serving as Manager of Manufacturing Operations and then as Director of Operations. He was named Vice President of Operations in 2011.
Mr. Trempe has led the company’s initiative, which was announced by Ms. Longaberger last summer, to transition to becoming a fully American-made company. That effort, named “Project Eagle,” has made significant progress, Ms. Longaberger said. The first phase of U.S.-made pottery is already being offered, with more to come.
“Mike Trempe is a respected and talented leader who has proven over his years with our company that he truly has the Longaberger heart and soul,” said Ms. Longaberger. “Mike appreciates and values our national sales family. He knows what makes our company special and he lives our values every day. He has earned this promotion by his fine work.”
“Creating this new position will further strengthen our leadership team so that we can take full advantage of the exciting opportunities before us,” she added.
Prior to joining Longaberger, Mr. Trempe held positions at Creative Packaging and at Worthington Industries (currently Nissan Chemitec America), as well as at Sports America. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis University. He and his wife have two children and reside in New Albany, OH.
