As part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department had their annual drive-thru drop off event Saturday.
"It’s going great today. We’ve had more cars in three hours than we’ve had any year since we’ve been doing this. As far as the medications, I think we’ve brought in more than ever before," said Steve Carrel, CEO of the ZMCHD.
People dropped off all types of prescriptions and medications ranging from expired vitamins to Oxycontin and Hydrocodone.
"Those are the ones that we really want to get off the market out of the way so people can’t abuse them."
If you missed Saturday’s event, you can drop off your medications at the permanent medication collection site at the Muskingum County Jail Lobby on N. 4th Street in Zanesville. The lobby is open 24 hours and seven days a week.
