New Community Garden

The Maple-Harding Community Garden Committee started construction on their community garden bright and early Saturday morning.

"I began organizing a community garden on the south end of town last year, Brighton Grows Community Garden was the first plot. I was discovered by Melanie Imlay who had this piece of land and we’ve been working with the housing authority. This year Melanie has started the Maple-Harden Community Garden," said gardener, Susan Skinner.

The gardeners primarily worked on building high rise gardening plots for Zanesville residents so they have access to growing their own fresh food if they live with limited space.

"They can sign up for a bed, they can grow their own produce, They can eat healthy, fresh produce for free basically. I think it’s an opportunity for folks who’ve never grown food or who think all food comes from the grocery store, to learn about food."

If you want to be a part of the community garden or sign up for your own plot, you can contact them on facebook or on their website.
