Local students are being honored for their academic achievement.

Ohio University Zanesville recognizes students who performed with excellence at its annual Honors Luncheon. Many of the students faced obstacles while trying to obtain their degrees.

Applied Management Outstanding Student, Danielle Fairchild said  " I am a young mother. I have a son, he seven months old and I actually went through a lot during my pregnancy to graduate in time. I am very lucky and grateful I was able to graduate on time and I have a great career now all thanks to Ohio University Zanesville. "

Fairchild is one of 17 students awarded for both their perseverance and high GPA  today. OUZ  faculty said days like today are what they are there for.

Associate Dean, Alan Punches said, "It makes us swell up on a day like this. We are so very proud of what they’ve done. We are the ones who see that growth from the time they begin with us and we can see how they have changed. We are agents of change and to see that change and growth makes us as proud as parents. "

Parents, friends and professors were also there to celebrate their outstanding students.
