An exchange program brings young professionals from Peru to the United States.

The Group Study Exchange Team is made of five Peruvian professionals who were brought to the US by different rotary clubs. Tuesday, the Noon Rotary Club of Zanesville had them give a demonstration about their country. Team leader Dolly Parra believes these trips are educational.

"It’s important because it allows both cultures to integrate with each other to break down the stereotypes, for examples most of what we know about the United States is what appears in the sitcoms and series, now that we have a chance to come here we discovered you are so traditional," Parra said.

The group is comprised of 3 dentists, a teacher and a banker. During their month stay they visit people in the United States with the same profession.

"We try to get them to meet with different people that are in their profession so that they get to see how things are done in a different country, not just what the people are like that is different or the same but what the professions are like or the same, " said Rotarian, Marion Gillilland.

This is the last year of the program, but over the years members say it has been extremely beneficial program.
