Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton signed a proclamation in honor of the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 75th year Thursday afternoon at City Hall. Members of the Zanesville chapter were at the signing and even harmonized for the Mayor.
"The Barbershop Harmony Society has been in existence since 1938. It was founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma a bunch of men gathering and getting together to harmonize in a four part harmony and just have fun singing and we’ve been doing it ever since," said member, Paul Shannon.
The Barbershop Harmony Society Zanesville Chapter has around 40 members of all ages and some as young as 10-years old.
"We just have so much fun and have friendship of all these men. We have one thing in common, they’re from all walks of life, but we have one thing in common, we love to harmonize and sing."
The group will be performing Friday night at the Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative in New Concord.
