A local community foundation starts a new competition for youth.

The Muskingum County Community Youth Foundation is planning their first youth grant competition. It’s goal is to empower youth and improve the community by providing financial support.

CYF Adviser, Juliet Lacy said "The community youth foundation is always looking for activities, community service, and grant making that positively impacts the lives of young people in Muskingum County."

The youth groups who apply for the grant as well as the youth who are members of CYF are taking leadership roles.

Lacy said "It is really exciting to see the high school students getting involved. they are the ones who are raising the money and they will be the one awarding the grants and that something we just don’t see. There are a lot of community service organizations out there for youth, but I think its kind of neat that our CYF members are on that side of the grant funding.

The group hopes to raise over a $1000 to award to the grant winners. Their next fundraising event is next Tuesday, April 23rd at Steak N Shake. the Deadline to apply for this grant is this Friday, April 19th. Visit the Muskingum County Foundation’s website for more details.
