Shovels, helmets and community leaders were all present the groundbreaking ceremony at Genesis Medical Center Saturday.
The center is scheduled to be completed by 2015. CEO of Genesis, Matthew Perry says the new building took years of planning.
"We’ve made dozen of trips to the hospitals and the design we have come up with is going to incorporate all the latest technologies all the latest processes for excellent patient care, " Perry Said.
The community raised 15 million dollars for the new facility. The new hospital will feature private rooms, easier navigation, and cancer centers. Perry says that this hospital will positively impact Muskingum County.
" What this means for Muskingum County is truly huge. The medical center without this new hospital would not be viable for the long term and I think for Muskingum this is going to help us to show ourselves that we can really accomplish something truly great, " said Perry.
The new hospital will be located at the current site of the Genesis Bethesda hospital on Maple Avenue.
