Monday was the last day for the 39th Annual Utica Sertoma Ice Cream Festival and for the Rieser family, it’s a tradition that they never miss.
"This is good family fun and it’s inexpensive, you can come and spend money or not. We just love coming here," said Sherry Rieser, who has been attending the festival for 20 years.
Rieser brought along her grand kids and great nephews to the festival and says her family’s favorite part is the ice cream eating contest. Not only was there Velvet Ice Cream to eat, there were elephant ears, corn dogs, fried vegetables and a lot of fun activities for the family.
"It always kicks off at a 10:30 a.m. parade in downtown Utica where we actually give away free ice cream during the parade and on Sunday we have a car show. We had it yesterday and we had 300 cars and today and on Monday, we always have a motorcycle show," said Andre Dager, Guest Relations Director for Velvet Ice Cream.
The festival runs for three days every Memorial Day weekend.
