A local group is using its green thumb to bring beauty to Zanesville

The Muskingum Valley Garden Society filled planters with flowers around city hall, downtown and the library Sunday. The group started ten years ago and has kept up the work ever since and is always welcoming new members.

"You can just show up when we are out working and help out actually, a couple people have been doing that they saw us working stopped and just got out and started helping, " said President, Beth Brown.

Some of the flowers planted today included Dusty Millers, Mendevillas and Petunias. Brown says their goal is to make the city look better while strengthening community ties.

" It is an effort in our community to beautify our downtown we have several businesses and offices and people who support our efforts understanding the value beautification adds to a community, " said Brown.

The group is most know for their spring garden symposium in March that helps fund other projects for the year. For more information visit their website.
