Thursday evening a march will take place for healthier babies.
March of Dimes is celebrating its 75th anniversary and Muskingum County is getting involved. The walk will take place along OUZ campus. The march supports research for different issues affecting babies and their mothers.
" They’ve done a ton of research, their mission basically emcompasses healthy moms and babies so they’ve done a lot of research about healthy moms and folic acid and the benefits of that. They actually led research that developed the very first NICU which is a common term today but at the time wasn’t," Ambasador, Maggie Wibbeler said.
Wibbeler is the ambassador of the event. She gets families involved with the march and the planning process. She got involved with the program when her daughter was born prematurely.
"Our daughter Lucy was born 16 weeks early, so at just 24 weeks gestation and just a little over a pound. So we got involved with the March of Dimes because they fund research for premies particulary with undeveloped lungs, which is something that lucy struggled with, " said Wibbeler.
The walk will take place Thursday evening. Registration starts at 5 and the walk will begin at 6. There will be activities for children, entertainent and food. Wibbeler wants everyone to come out and bring a team to walk and support our healthy babies.
