The Muskingum County Convention Facilities Board of Directors voted 6-0 with two members absent and two abstaining from voting, to terminate Executive Director, Vicki Maple. The board also voted to install Stacy Clapper as Chairwoman of the Board. Clapper says the decision to terminate Maple was made after careful consideration in the nearly hour and a half executive session.

Clapper exlplained, "The board is looking in the best interest of Muskingum County and the citizens of the City of Zanesville, where a different executive director will be best suited for future direction of the MCCFA board, and it will be for future generations to embrace and enjoy."

The decision comes after the board voted to terminate the Cultural Event Center, a project nearly seven years in the making. Members of the community who attended the meeting were unhappy with the outcome and questioned the board’s decision, but were asked to leave immediately. Maple was surprised by the decision and says she did not see it coming.

"I’ve been told that it’s because I was forthright with our pledge sponsors and to the people who supported the project, and the direction of which I was taking the MCCFA. I guess the only thing I can say is, if revealing the truth and being a woman of faith and integrity is not what they’re looking for, then good luck to them," said Maple.

Maple spent 12-years as the executive director. She expressed her love for Zanesville’s community and says she hopes to stay here.
