MCCFA Letter Gets Reaction

A letter that was mailed by Muskingum County Convention Facilities Authority Executive Director Vicki Maple to a group of people who pledged money to the Cultural Event Center  project is getting some heated reaction.

In it Maple says that "it is with a heavy heart she must share the message that the Cultural Event Center and Cultural Campus Development Project have been terminated as per the direction of the Mayor of the City of Zanesville, Muskingum County Commissioners and members of the Facilities Authority Board of Directors".

Commissioner Jerry Lavy – who said he is speaking for the other two Commissioners – said he was disappointed that his office did not get a copy of the letter that named them. Lavy added while it’s true his office and the Mayor were responsible for appointing members to the Facilities Authority Board, it ultimately was the decision of the board that the project be dumped.

Mayor Tilton declined to comment. One other note Maple announced  that the chairman of her board Durb Dunzweiler has resigned.

In his letter, Maple says Dunzweiler wrote that he did not have the skills or expertise to contribute to the goals of the new board. The letter that Maple wrote can be read by clicking on the link on the left side of this page.
