The New Concord Police Department is investigating an armed robbery. Chief Trevor Hayes says it happened at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Pharmacy at 10 East Main Street. The Chief says a black male entered the pharmacy, holding a handgun and he went to the first clerk he saw and demanded his blue duffel bag be filled with drugs and cash. The clerk complied and the suspect left through the back door on foot in an unknown direction. Chief Hayes says the bandit is described as between 5-feet six and 5-feet-8 inches tall, between 150 and 160 pounds…wearing a dark blue hoodie and a toboggan. He was only in the pharmacy for around 30 seconds. There were no injuries reported. The Chief say the East Muskingum School District was placed on precautionary lock-down which means the students were not allowed to leave school grounds until cleared. The students were dismissed on-time. Anyone with information on this armed robbery is asked to call the New Concord Police Department at 740 826-7616.
