Port Authority Executive Director Mike Jacoby updated the Port on work going on at the Eastpointe Industrial Park.
A rail project is currently underway on Innovation Way in the southern half of the Eastpointe Park. Jacoby said they’ve started to move the pavement to expand the rail line.
They’ve also received estimates for new signals. The cost to the Port Authority will be around $215,000 while the rail commission will pay for the other signals on the rail extension portion of the project.
Jacoby said there was some discussion that a manhole belonging to the county was too close to the rail work, but moving it would cost $22,000.
For now the board and County Commissioners decided to leave the manhole as is for now.
Jacoby said the rail spur and transfer station will cost around $342,000 while the rail extension is in the neighborhood of $722,000.
