A local park is the host for the largest rowing championship in Zanesville history.
The Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championship will take place at Dillon State Park May 11th and 12th. The regatta will host 48 teams from 7 states across the Midwest. Chamber Vice President,Kelly Ashby says this event will have a positive impact on local business.
"The businesses that will be impacted are certainly our hotels. Most of our hotels are booked for the whole weekend, the restaurants will be thrilled with all of the rowers and parents that will be coming in. They are really good eaters, so they’ll be out there at the restaurants, at the hotels and certainly they’ll be doing shopping.. so huge impact right here in Muskingum County, " Ashby said.
Over 2,000 high school athletes will participate in the event . The event kicks off the Chambers of Commerce tourist season.
" It’s also the the week that the a lot of our attraction open for the season so the Wilds, the John and Annie Glenn Museum, The Stone Academy, National Roads and Zane Gray Museum will open for the season through October welcoming guest, " Ashby said.
Ashby says log onto VisitZanesville.com as a resource for all upcoming events.
