It took the best runners to run their best races at the right time for the Sheridan Boys and John Glenn Girls to win the MVL Track Meet. But it was two indviduals for each side that shined the brightest on the league’s biggest stage.
For John Glenn, Haley Gregory ran her customary 100 meter, 100 meter hurdles, and 300 hundred meter races, all of which were victories. But it was her win in the 400 meter run which gave her 40 total points earned on the night and to ultimately help the Lady Muskies win the MVL Meet. Gregory received help from Emily Brown who won the 200 meter run and Rheanna Wilson, who earned points in the 1600 and 320, helping push John Glenn to victory.
However, Gregory wasn’t the only one that stepped up on the girls side Friday night. Lauren Paul of West Muskingum won the 1600, 3200, and set an MVL Meet record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20. Jade Hawkins of Tri-Valley also contributed a huge number of points to her team by helping anchor the 4X100 meter relay team that edged out the Muskes. Sophomore Kaylee Antill also won both the shot and the disc to secure second place for the Scotties.
On the boys side, it was a different kind of win for Sheridan. The Generals used the combo of Matt Bromley and Joey Plumbo to finish first and second in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter run. And their victory in the 4×400 meter relay team secured their top spot. Bromley accounted for 28.5 points by himself, making him the high point getter on the boys side. Clinton Campbell of Morgan fell just short of Bromley’s total with 27.5 points but he did set a meet record in the 300 meter hurdles. Tri-Valley was able to hang around most of the night but came up short despite the best efforts of Collin Prouty, who finished first in the disc and second in the shot.
