A local animal shelter has pets for adoption that are a little on the unusual side.

The Animal Shelter of Muskingum County Director, Jody Murray says he just found homes for two ferrets and still has three cockatiels, and 2 bunnies that need homes. He says the care for these animals are different than for a cat or a dog.

"Most of them you have to keep in your house all the time. They will take some special foods and special care. Most of the time people that come in and already have an interest," said Murray.

Murray says if you need help caring for your animal he and his staff are willing to give advice. He says if you’re on a budget the small critters range in price.

" The prices range from very low to a few dollars for rats up to $105 for our dogs. The range is pretty broad," said Murray.

The animal shelter is having a Family Fun Day coming up Saturday, June 8th and there will be food, adoption specials and games for children.
