The Zanesville- Muskingum County Health Department is losing a 30 year long employee from the Environmental Health Division

Ann Moorehead is retiring Friday after 30 years. Her role included clearing housing permits and licenses as well as water well and sewage permits, but to her colleagues turned friends, she is so much more than that.

"We are going to miss Ann a lot because of her experience with environmental health, public health and customer service in general. Everybody knows Ann,” said Mike Kirsch, Ann’s boss and friend.

Ann plans to spend time with her grand-kids and her new 2 year old Yorkie pup, but after 30 years of working she has great memories, and things she will miss.

"My highlight?” asked Moorehead.

“Meeting all these people and just having a good time at work. They have become my family.”

Ann began to choke up but stopped herself and said, “Don’t want to do that."

Known for her love of The University of Michigan, she has built a friendly rivalry with co-workers and anyone who visited her window. One her requests this last week, was to see all of the health department in Michigan maize and blue tee- shirts, and everyone participated.
