The Muskingum County Fairgrounds was filled with cancer survivors and their supporters.
The 2013 Relay for Life event of Muskingum County took place Saturday. Staff Partner, Chelsea Edwards says this relay holds a special place in her heart.
" I started relaying when I was 15 and I started working for the American Cancer Society when I was 21 but I lost my grandfather when I was 8 years old to a very ugly battle with cancer, neck and throat cancer, " said Edwards.
The event had a Vegas theme this year with the motto being "Our Bet is on a Cure". There was plenty of food games and raffle prizes to keep participants busy. Edwards says she believes they are on there way to reaching their goal.
" We have over 20 teams and our goal is $88,000 dollars were doing really well we got a lot of teams out here we are really excited and all the money goes to research to find a cure and patient services, " said Edwards.
Edwards says the day after the relay last year they started planning for this years event and it’s a gratifying feeling when everything comes together. For more information or to donate visit the American Cancer Society’s Website.
