Animals in Need of Loving Home this Summer

The summer months are busy season at The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County because a lot of kittens and puppies are born around this time

The private and non profit organization’s primary function is to provide homes for the abandoned animals in the county. Those goals are different than those of the county pound, that is more centered around law enforcement and the handling of aggressive animals.

"We are one of the places, where if animals don’t have a home, families can’t provide care for them anymore, they bring them to us and then our goal is always going to be adoption," Executive Director Jody Murray said.

If you are interested in adoption, Murray suggests to come in to meet and play with the animals more than once

"You can go on websites and see pictures of dogs and everything but I think that if you really want to find a good match, you need to come down, bring your family, and just spend some time with the dog."

The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 to 5:30 and on Saturdays until 4 pm. For any information or questions you can give them a call at 740-452-1077.
