The State Track meet is the culmination of hard work of every local track athlete and today a few of our area athletes were able to get one step closer to that ultimate goal and dream.

In Division I Zanesville’s lone representitve was Tiara Wiggins and she was able to post a time of 44.82 in the 300 hurdles and with that time she was able to advance to the State Final race in the eigth position.

Wiggins wasn’t the only area athlete to advane in the hurdles races, John Glenn’s Haley Gregory will enter the State Final heat with the third best time in the 100 hurdles and the top over all time in the 300 hurdles after winning her heat in that event. Gregory also participated in the 4×100 meter relay and the 100 meter dash and was unable to qualify for the State Finals heat.

Gregory wasn’t the only girl who had a chance to shine today. The Lady Cermaics of Crooksville had their first ever relay team make it to the state level and they did their school proud, but finished seventh in the 4×100 meter relay and were unable to qualify for the state finals. The same thing happend to the Lady Bishops in the 4×200 meter relay and then in the 4×400 meter relay they missed the finals by .28 of a second.

On the boys side things went well for Rosecrans David Cline, who set the Rosecrans school mark with a throw of 57ft 06inches. That throw not only set a Bishop school mark but it earned him the fourth best throw in the state. The Kentucky bound Cline finished his career with the Bishops as an All-Ohioian.
