The Muskingum County Commissioners met with the Director of Fair Housing to discuss the year in review.
The Fair Housing Program runs from September to August and today they met to give an updated report. Over the last year 14 calls were made in regards to fair housing, mostly concerning landlord tenant issues. One call made did appear to have fair housing implications.
"That caller was referred to the specialist at the Ohio Civil Rights Commission in order to determine if indeed a complaint was to be filed and to obtain specific information with regard to the process, " said Director, Cheryl Staron.
The program also found that areas in Muskingum County were eligible for community development block grants that provide funds for low to moderate income areas.
" There were four entities in Muskingum County that received community development fund for fiscal year 2012 because of that they are required to make themselves available for a very brief fair housing training session, " said Staron.
Staron says although 14 calls doesn’t seem like a large number she hopes to decrease the calls by providing more information in the upcoming years.
