A local fire department is celebrating Father’s Day the same way it has for the past 25 years.
The Falls Township Fire Department had their annual BBQ Chicken Father’s Day meal on Sunday. The proceeds from the fundraising meal goes towards providing odds and ends for the station.
"We use the money for various things it’s more tradition more than anything else but this year we bought new software for our computers," said Chief, Mark Brown.
The Father’s Day tradition brought one man out for the last 10 years. Randy Dale, Father of 5 says he appreciates the recognition fathers receive today.
"It gives my kids, my sons a chance to show me they appreciate what I do for them and how much they love me and my daughters and I do the same for my father, " said Dale.
This year the department barbecued 1,700 chickens which was 200 more than previous years. The department started serving meals at 11 o’clock this morning and were almost sold out by 1o’clock this afternoon. The department usually raises between $2,000 and $ 3,000 dollars each Father’s Day.
