Some of the biggest names in country music including Jason Aldean, Tim Mcgraw, and Miranda Lambert participated in this local contest and now it’s your turn.

The Texaco Country Showdown is a national talent search that gives people with big voices from small towns a chance at stardom. The contest is open to talent in Zanesville and surrounding areas. Group performances are also welcome at the Texaco Country Showdown.

"When we talk about the next country superstar doesn’t necessarily have to be an individual. If there are  bands out there that would like to enter they are more than welcome to do that, " said Media Operations Coordinator, Brian Wagner.

Wagner says if you are in a band you will have to provide your own equipment, but there will be time and space to set up for your performance. If participants perform well in the contest they have a chance to make it to the national stage where stakes are higher.

" The winners as long as they continue to win continue to move on up and maybe win that $100,000 prize and recording contract," said Wagner.

If you are interested in applying to the contest entry forms and music samples are due to WHIZ by July 3rd. The 15 finalists will be notified by July 15th and will have a chance to perform at the Texaco Country Showdown at the Secrest Auditorium later this summer on August 3rd.
