Hilty Hired as Philo Girls Basketball Coach

Like father, like son. That is the story for the Hilty family and Philo basketball. Today, Danny Hilty was officially hired as the Philo girls basketball coach, a position his father, Dan Hilty, Sr., held less than two decades ago.

The decision came after the Franklin Board of Education approved it earlier this week. Hilty is a 1994 graduate of Philo and has been a Special Education teacher at his alma mater the past seven years. Danny starred as a three sport athlete in the early 90’s, the same period his father, led the Lady Electrics to successful campaigns. Hilty replaces Terrey Kelly, whom he was an assistant under last season, when Philo went 10-14.

This fall will bring Hilty’s first head coaching position, where Philo is once again expected to compete for an MVL title. Hilty will have his work cut out for him though, as Philo continues to rebuild their program. Here’s a look at the last four season results for the Lady Electrics.
