On the Fourth of July there will be the first Red, White and Run 5k hosted by the Muskingum Recreation Center.

If you are unaware of what the MRC is, it is a non profit organization, that has teamed up with three other entities around the area for an overall healthier county, including the YMCA , Ohio University Zanesville, and the Muskingum County Community Foundation,

"Well, we wanted to do something for the community, to kind of extend to Zanesville, the community of Zanesville and its outreach, all that is currently going on with this big project because not a lot of people really know the MRC is all about,” said Membership Development Manager, Katie McNeil. “So we actually teamed up with the rotary and actually it’s both rotary’s and we are going to host this and all of the proceeds like I said before are going to go to the Muskingum Recreation Center."

The race will be on the campus of OUZ at 8 am. You can register the day of the race but there is a special incentive if you are one of the first to do so.

"The first hundred participants will get a cinch sack and a tumbler for registering. It’s 20 dollars per participant, per racer, through the day of the race and then on the third it is going to be 25 dollars per racer."
