A young Zanesville man that was taken too soon is remembered through a fundraiser set up by his loving parents.
Grant Hickman died 2 years ago. He was a member of the Zanesville Football Team and touched the lives of many people in the community. Today was the 2nd annual Run for Grant event. The money raised at the run goes towards awarding scholarships to local students.
"It exceeds my expectations.. so many people the community got together my family my friends its incredible, " said Grant’s mother, Beth Hickman.
This year they added an silent auction to the run that Hickman says went very well. During the event some of the runners were awarded with medals. One runner says his relationship with grant pushed him to run even harder.
"Me and my other friend Clint Mason who were real good friends with grant too we pushed each other to do really good in the race. I beat him by one person so I’m pretty happy about that, " said close friend, Colt Norris.
So far they have raised over 18,000 dollars for the foundation. If you didn’t make it to the event you can visit the Muskingum County Community Foundation’s website and donate to Grant’s Foundation there.
