There are no age limits on the contest. All contestants must do is fill out an entry form and turn in a two minute audio clip of themselves to Whiz Media Group. All materials are due by July 3rd at 5 p.m. One local contestant needed to record her voice on tape for the contest and came to the WHIZ studios to do so.

"Brian Wagner, he’s going to be able to tape me while I sing so I can enter the competition. You got to have to have your vocals on there because they’re only going to pick 15 people, " said contestant, Susan Sensabaugh.

If you happen to be one of the 15 finalist you’ll be notified by July 15th. The next step of the process will be to perform at the Texaco Country Showdown concert at Secrest Auditorium on August 3rd. Sensabaugh says if she makes it to the next level she will be excited to share her gift with the crowd.

" I just want to let people see what God’s put in me and let him feel that and just express what singing can do. It can lift your spirits. It can let you know you can go on to the next day . Things can always change. Things never stay the same when you’ve got God, "said Sensabuagh.

The Texaco Competition has given some of the most popular stars their start including Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley and Garth Brooks. If you would like to enter make sure to check to see if you’re county is eligible and be aware that there will be an entrance fee of $20 if you are a finalist.
