The world’s largest flag arrived at the Longaberger Homestead in Frazeysburg on Friday just in time for flag day.

The flag is larger than two full size football fields. The creator of the huge masterpiece said it was something he was compelled to do.

"There’s always going to be something that you say this what I should do when you do it, it doesn’t make any difference if you have to go hock your house or whatever you do. It’s an important thing for you," said Flag Creator and Retired U.S.. Coast Gaurd Commander, James Alexander.

The flag was created fourteen years ago in Pennsylvania. Six women worked diligently for four months to complete the project. The "Superflag" travels around the world and this is it’s first stop in Ohio. Director of Corporate Communications for Longaberger, Brenton Baker says it is a must see attraction.

"I’ve never seen anything like it.. if you aren’t here or you weren’t here I can’t even describe it it’s incredible," said Baker.

Friday’s flag unfurling was all a part of the 2013 Great American Picnic Celebration thrown by Longaberger. The celebration continues through Saturday, where you will find food, games and baskets for sale in honor of the Fisher House. The proceeds go towards lodging for military families who are waiting for soldiers to receive nearby care.
